Student Experience Amstelveen
Amstelveen, The Netherlands
The first building in a new campus district
Student Experience Amstelveen is the first building to be realised in the Kronenburg campus area. The complex replaces the former GAK and Belastingdienst offices on a site that had stood largely vacant for years. Designed by OZ and built by Pleijsier Bouw, the 500 fully furnished studios offer short-stay accommodation of up to six months, in line with Schiphol flight path regulations for the area. The building serves international students, PhD researchers and academic staff, and is part of a wider municipal plan that will bring 438 student homes and 3,600 short-stay units to Kronenburg over the coming decade.

Shared facilities that serve the building and the neighbourhood
The complex includes study rooms, flex-working spaces, a launderette, lounge and the signature rooftop sports field. Several of these facilities will be accessible to the wider neighbourhood, ensuring the building contributes to the area from day one rather than operating in isolation. The short-stay model of up to six months is designed for international students and researchers who need a fully serviced temporary home close to Amsterdam's universities, helping to relieve pressure on the existing Uilenstede student housing next door.
The first building to rise in Kronenburg. 500 studios designed by OZ on the site of former government offices, next to the existing Uilenstede campus. Student Experience Amstelveen brings the full-service model to a district in transformation, with a rooftop sports field, flex-working spaces and study rooms open in part to the wider neighbourhood.
Every project is shaped by the people behind it. We partner with specialists who share our commitment to building living environments that last.
